Smart Chemical Management

Our chemical management system is designed to meet the requirement of international standards like HIGG INDEX, STeP by OEKO TEX, ZDHC etc.

Reduction in chemical consumption

Through smart practices, we have reduced the chemical consumption in different processes e.g. sizing, yarn dyeing, fabric processing, printing etc. The initiatives for the reduction of chemical usage includes reroute of processes, multiple use of chemical bath, recovery of caustic etc. In our engineering division we have replaced cooling tower with radiator for engine cooling with complete elimination of chemical involvement. Likewise, in our water demineralization process, we have reduced 30% chemical consumption by upgradation of monitoring frequencies. All of these initiatives are not only creating impact on our resource utilization but also plays a considerable role in pollution load reduction at wastewater treatment plant.

Caustic Recovery Plant (CRP)

We have a four stage caustic recovery plant since 2014 with 75% to 85% efficiency rate. Our CRP recovers used caustic soda from the mercerizing wastewater to reuse in our production. On average 70% of our caustic comes from our caustic recovery unit.

Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemical (ZDHC)

Alkaram complies with ZDHC MRSL. Sharing ZDHC’s goal to eliminate priority hazardous chemicals, we have a robust chemical management system, and have been following ZDHC MRSL and Wastewater Guidelines. We stipulate our own MRSL for chemical suppliers to follow, and only compliant chemicals are allowed to be introduced into our facilities. We also monitor our wastewater parameters according to ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines biannually and disclose our data through ZDHC Gateway.
