Alkaram Textile Mills is a sole 100% sponsor of the The Citizen Foundation School Alkaram Campus for children located in Quaidabad, Karachi. Through education and social development programs, AKTM aims to break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy by providing quality education to children who previously had no access to it. The school covers books, uniforms & all educational expenses.
Alkaram Textile Mills partnered with Make-a-Wish Foundation Pakistan to fulfill wishes of children suffering from life threatening diseases. As a socially responsible corporate organization, Alkaram Textile Mills has always been at the forefront when it comes to supporting the community. Few notable wishes fulfilled included a Bedroom themed after Disney’s ‘Frozen’ cartoon character, Rechargeable Bikes, Smart Phones, Toys and Birthday Celebrations.
Alkaram Textile Mills collaborated with TCF for its Vocational Program of Community Development. More than 400 women took part in skills training program which enabled them to attain technical skills & earn livelihood. Alkaram stepped in with income generating opportunity for these apprentices buy donating fabric for them to produce and sell bed sheets.
Alkaram Textile Mills celebrates “Children’s Day” every year with various humanitarian organizations which support child rights and protection for underprivileged children. Magic shows and fun filled activities are organized every year along with distribution of gifts.
Blood donation drive is organized at Alkaram Textile Mills periodically as a social responsibility towards the society. Generous donations were made in the past to Indus Hospital Karachi and Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Center (KITCC).
Adult Literacy Program was organized to provide instructional guidance and moral support to adult workmen who struggle with basic reading, writing, and math skills. These individuals are usually who could not either have access to elementary education or enrolled in a school during the childhood. Four batches have successfully graduated from this program till date.
At present, Alkaram Textile Mills is providing shared accommodation to more than 3500 workers inclusive of family accommodation to more than 50 families. The colony also comprises necessary essentials such as a tuck shop, grocery shop, barber shop, a health clinic nearby and an RO plant to provide clean drinking water to the residents.

Every year, the company sends three employees including permanent company employees, contractual employees and piece rated employees from all units of Alkaram Textile Mills to perform Hajj. The employees are nominated through balloting.
